Letter From the President

Dear Friends,

As you know from past newsletters, spring is my favorite times of year. I love the newness that it brings to the weather and life in general. With this in mind, I would like to welcome our newest staff additions: Elissa in our massage department; Cyndi, Lauren and Rochelle in the hair department; Renee is back as a nail technician; and Britney is the newest member of our front desk team. These new additions join our dedicated staff who continue, as always, to work hard everyday.

Many of you may not know that the pay structure of the beauty industry is most often commission-based, as we are here. This means that your technician does not get paid if they do not work or if they have a no-show. In addition, employee raises are based solely on price increases. Our business plan for the past twelve years has been to limit increases as much as possible . We opt to alternate increases in departments every three years rather than doing across the board changes. Therefore, effective May 1st, 2008 there will be a small price increase in the hair and nail departments. The last increase for hair cutting/styling services was March 2005 and the last nail service increase was in July 2004 with the exception of our petite pedicure. As always, our goal is to improve our services and give you “Options” along the way. We are confident that when it comes to affordability in the beauty industry, Options continues to provide superior value and service.

Finally, we invite you to help us celebrate our 12th Anniversary! Please stop by the week of April 15th to join in our festivities. Thank you for helping Options Salon & Spa reach this milestone.

Spring Hair Trends 2008

No matter how long or short your hair may be after winter, you can look forward to layers, razor cut bobs, and blunt bangs to freshen up for the season. Here are the top women’s hairstyle trends for Spring 2008:

Blunt Bangs:
 

Blunt bangs are especially flattering for round and square face shapes, and can help balance high cheekbones.

Sculpted Bob:
 

The bob continues to be a top trend this season, but the year calls for a soft and romantic version. Soften up the look with large curlers or a curling iron, and go for a side part that covers the forehead.

Ponytails:
 

Go for a teased side ponytail for a sophisticated and romantic look for Spring. Make it sleek and sophisticated with a flat iron, or wear it loose with a natural wave.

Razor Cut Bob:

 

The razor cut bob continues to be a top trend this year, except in a longer length. Instead of ending at the chin, the longest layer can now drop to the shoulders.

Finish off updos or dress up a simple bob with a few glittery hair picks and beaded accessories for a romantic touch. Spring trends are flirty, playful and youthful!
 

Fashion Trends 2008
Here are some final fashion trends for Spring of 2008…

Fashion Transparent chiffons and layered sheers Think romance with tiered ruffles, frills and roses on skirts, dresses, blouses and necklines Short full skirts with an added belt for more volume Wide legged and flared jeans and trousers Art Deco 1930’s and 40’s glamour Jumpsuits On the up...patterned shoes. Patchwork and floral printed shoes are a must have this season.

Colors

Hot fashion colors for spring and summer 2008 are lilac and violet. Citrus traverses the whole range of fashionable colors, from lime, lemons, grapefruit, to rich orange, mandarin, to tangerine.
